Surfing Waves

Hi there, I've got an early 7s super fish 6'3" which I have owned for a few years (along with a few other boards). I think the board is a suitable size/volume for my level

I'm guessing it's 10 years old or so (I bought it second hand) and i think it's still in reasonable condition. It's had a few ding repairs but nothing major.

What I'm wondering, is there a significant difference between a 10 year old vs new of the same (or equivalent) board?

I'm pondering the idea of buying a new board but not sure if I would notice a difference and keen to get others thoughts

Usually in the shop, for HP shortboards, we say 5 years or less before the board loses it's "pop". On a longer board with heavier glassing and blank, longer amount of time. Main thing if there is no delamination ( where the inner core gets depressed and the fiberglass top layer starts to separate from the blank ) . If that is fine and there's no signs of water getting in through old spider cracks and dings, then keep riding it.

If it's one of the very old models with black G-5 FCS fins, you may want to upgrade those.
