Surfing Waves

So I'm wanting to get into surfing. Obviously I've never done it but its never to late to learn right. I'm 37 y/o 6'2 275 lbs. I really need help in what is the best board for me. I've been looking at long boards but I have no clue as to wat size or even manufactures. I live in California mostly visiting Frisco to monterey. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1) Did you take a SURF LESSON yet ?

2) If YES, what size board did the instructors have you on ?

3) How good a swimmer are you ?
