need some shortboard advice

Hi,
I would like to buy a shortboard though i need advices

I'm a girl, 5,5 and i weight about 140lb.
I'm 17, in pretty good shape. I know the ocean well and i'm a good swimmer (i use to compete).
I mostly surf in Peniche, Pt where the waves vary around waist/head high, mostly beach breaks but also a few reef breaks.
I can ride longboards and fun boards (popup, carving etc). I have been trying out shortboards for a couple of weeks now (6.4 and 6.2) and i want to buy one for myself. I am more confortable on the 6.2 that my friend lent me.
There is this one board which i've been considering :

SEMENTE-The Catcher : 6,1 x 19' 7/8" x 2' 1/2" vol : 32,5

Do you guys think i could ride it ? or am I being too ambitious ? also does the volume seem alright for me ?

(also sorry if my english is approximative or the measurements seem weird, i'm French and Brazilian so english is not my first language)

Welcome to surfing waves, if you were comfortable on the 6’2” I’d be choosing between that and the 6’4” dimension between,two boards may appear identical,, but the ride different.

If you could ride a test one? Get out there and see!
Should good for you, at your age. Be flexible and adaptable and give Lagide a ride for me.

What's the volume or other dimensions on your friend's 6'2" that works for you? The slightly strange thing that I noticed about the Semente board is that the shaper describes it as "high volume" but 32.5L at 6'1" is not what I would call high volume. For example, the Channel Islands Pod Mod at 6'0" is 39L. The Roberts Dreamcatcher at 6'1" is ~36L. It's a bit like comparing apples to oranges, but neither of those boards are particularly considered "high volume" either - at least not compared to a funshape or groveller at the same dimensions (i.e., a Firewire Sweet Potato at 6'2" is ~57L - almost 25L greater than the Semente at the same size).

I'm not saying that it won't work for you, but don't just base your decision on the length. If your friend's 6'2 works for you, try to find something that has similar dimensions throughout (length, width, thickness, volume, shape,rocker, etc). And Jaffa's advice to try it out (if you can) is good, too.

BTW, your English is great. Much better than my French or Portuguese (both of which can barely help me find a bathroom).

Went back to the Segmente site , 6’4’ may be a better fit

The thing is I won't buy it directly from Semente because its not the original "the catcher" board, it's hard to explain but it was shaped by Nick (the man who created the brand) for a friend of mine. The board has the similar characteristics as the Catcher model in general but it's not totally the same. It gives me te opportunity to buy the board for waaaay less because my friend is a bigger guy and doesn't really use it that much so he offered me the possibility to buy it.

On the 6'2 board, the length and the width felt good for me but the volume was about 34 i think and it was a bit much for me.
He is in New-Zealand for now but i'll ask him to try it out.
