I've heard that when you buy a board, you need to buy one according to your height. I'm about 5'2". What size board would I need to get?

considering your height it possible to ride any board size you wish. Your weight is also another factor but you should not ask ladies such questions. However a larger board with greater volume will progress your surfing much quicker as the are easier to balance on

Also dont forget, if you plan to start with a short board, since you are a begginer(no disrespect), a thicker and wider board will be much better for you, trust me. It will give you flotation and stabillity which will help you balance and controll your board. For small surf(2ft-8ft) I suggest a board that is at least 2 3/8 thick. You will want it wide, as close to 20" is you can get and very importantly, for small surf, it needs a wide nose and tail. Measure 12" down the center from the tip of the nose. Now, from that point, measure across. That is your nose width. Same with the tail, 12" up.

I really suggest for your height and being a beginner , you should get at least a 7'8 if you're not into the long boards , but this mni will help. But if you really want to get going fast and learn , better off with an 8ft or longer and thick .

You'll thank me later!

Good luck
