Surfing Waves

Hi all!

My first posting here.. so be extra gentle with me! I live in Long Island, New York and mostly surf in the area at least x1 / week. I've been surfing only about 1 yr and see myself somewhere post-beginner, heading to early-intermediate. I ride mostly in small beach breaks waves and mellow point breaks and whatever comes to me when traveling. As for me, I'm a mid-30's female, super tiny (but mighty! ^^) 158cm (5'2") and 45kg (100 lbs).

First of all, would you recommend 'Rusty Dwart' if I'm looking for 1 versatile everyday all rounder board that I can use for the next yr or so until I advance further? Most importantly, what size/volume combo should I get? If you can recommend me other brands/models, please feel free to throw your advice! Thanks in advance for your help! xoxo

What size board do you currently surf? And what size new board are you thinking about?

My immediate reaction is that something like the rusty zeppelin or maybe even better the FireWire seaxe would be a better choice for an advanced beginner on those waves. Bigger, more stability, easier paddle etc. I know a heap of women who surf the seaxe (well, about 5) and they all love it.

But maybe a bit more as to your history and expectations

Rusty's own volume calculator recommends for a 100lbs. beginner a volume around 36.28 liters.

But I wouldn't recommend a beginner be on a high-performance board.
"The Dwart takes the basic elements of a modern fish and fuses them with a few high-performance design techniques to take it to the next level." Can you go from rail to rail easily and do backside off the lips ? If not, I wouldn't recommend a board with double-wing round pin tail.
