53L fish vs 55L funboard?

Hey all, just wondering the general consensus is for a second board. Currently I ride a 8ft wavestorm, and I learned on a 9'1 longboard (both approx 80L). Also rented a 8'0 NSP prior to buying the wavestorm and loved it! (the maneuverability, had no issues paddling or catching waves)

I ride 5-7 days a week for 2-4 hours a day. I am 5'9 and 185lbs last I checked :P
I surf 2ft-chest high conditions usually, reef break.

I am considering a 7'3 superfish that is 53L, or potentially a6'8, 7' or possibly 7'6 midlength/funboard (48, 53, and 58L respectively)

Basically what I want to know

1) what are the pros and cons of a fish vs midlength / funbard?
2) is 53L too drastic a jump from 80L (I have paddled a bit on my friends 5'8 hybrid board (too little volume for me at this time - he also weighs 50lbs less than I do . No dimensions on his board other than length and them writing ''M.O.A.B." on the stringer  )
3) my local shop has a 7'6 board for rent which I was considering, and a 6'4 fish for rent as well. I was thinking about renting both to get a ballpark estimate of how they feel compared to the boards Ive listed above. Unfortunately they have only listed the width and length on these boards (I took pictures :D ), so I don't know the volume
4)Am I worrying too much about a 5L difference and board shape/type difference?

The scorpion copy is a nice board.....but you would need decent waves with some guts to get it to go with that pintail. Plus you'll run it as a single, 2+1, quad or thruster? It is really a board for a better surfer in spite of the mini mal shape. 7s is popular for a reason....probably that is the better choice for now. Go with the biggest size you can stand.....would take the 8' in the super fish for your next board if I were you. I have a 8'2" fungun that is surprisingly nimble.

8'0'' 23'' 3'' 66.9 ltr

Surf as many boards as you can....you'll start to notice things about similar boards that you like that they have in common.

I wish they never came out with Volume calculators and Liter specs. They are always too optimistic in the recommendations and the input data are not usually truthful or realistic.

You can get 10 boards with the same exact liters and each board will ride very differently.

I think it is best for you to try out the 6'4" and the 7'6". I 2nd what Big H said about the super fish. At my shop that board never had complaints and used versions of it sold quickly.

yes to the former; no to the latter. Board shape/type can make a very significant difference; 5L is only relevant if you are comparing two similar shaped boards. Otherwise its like saying vehicle one has an 80hp engine and vehicle 2 has a 100 hp engine. But if vehicle 2 is a truck and vehicle one is a 2 seat coupe, then looking just at the engine will tell you nothing about whether the vehicle is suitable for your needs

if you are interested in the GSI boards, then the superfish is a good choice - particularly given how often you are surfing. But you could also look at the modern blackbird or double wide

Bit the bullet on a 7'2 NSP fish, the new model (epoxy).

7'2 X 22 X 2 5/8 51L

Im super stoked, took it out for a quick session yesterday and had a good time.
