Surfing Waves

Hey everyone, I’ve been surfing for about 2 years now. Started with epoxy and now I’m riding a 6’2” fish. I enjoy surfing tourmaline here in San Diego but the problem is the spot has zero etiquette and is overcrowded (sometimes 50 to 60 people). Recently I had someone go over the falls and shoot their board at me. Their board hit mine and caused a decent amount of damage. After some sanding and applying solarez I was able to get back out in the water. The individual laughed and asked if I was ok. After seeing him a few more times it was easy for me to reach the conclusion that he has no idea what he is doing in the water and the thought of either of our boards being damaged didn’t cross his mind. I now want a foam board on those crowded days so I don’t risk damaging a nicer board. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to get a foam board? Costco seems to be good for the wave storms but I was curious if there were any specific shops in San Diego. Thank you.

If any of the Wavestorms are what you want, then they are definitely the best value for money boards. They make some 6 - 6'6 swallow tail boards that might be sort of (kinda) similar to your fish. Well, probably not that similar but around the same length anyway.

Costco used to have the Wavestorm 5'8" "sushi" fish. I've seen the CBC ( California Board Company, although made in China ) 6'2"" fish on the internet, and it was way more than Costco's mark up.

If you're after a "better" soft board, the best is from INT Softboard ( made in the USA ). Catch Surf puts out some good boards too.
If you want a "Hybrid" Soft/Hard board, Surftech just released their new line of Soft tops with top shapers like Bill Stewart ( Stewart surfboards ), Donald Takayama (Hawaiian Pro Designs ) and Marcio Zouvi ( Sharpeye surfboards who Toledo Filipe rides for )

Look at the float volume on the 6'0" ! Should be plenty. I was thinking of getting the Sole 6'6" because it just makes the 2 meter limit to bring on the train here in Japan.
