Libtech Puddle Fish

Hey there :D

I currently have a 6'0 (39 L) Libtech RNF redux, and I'm really in love with it. I bought it used and the previous owner didn't take really good care of it. Crack in the finbox from tightening fins too much... etc.

I've been thinking about trying out the Puddle Fish as that seems to be a big hit around here. I'd be interested in using it between 2 and 5 foot waves. I imagine it functioning very similar to my RNF redux... however, I was just wondering if I should get the 6'0 (41.75) puddle fish or should I go with the 5'10 (38 L)? Is 1 L that big of a difference on these types of boards (from 39 to 38). Or am I thinking about this backwards? Should I just go with the same height?

Thanks!

Looks like almost the same board to me....why not go with another shape? Or if the issue is that you want to get a board in better condition why wouldn't you get the same board you have now if you love it?

I'm guessing when you say 2-5ft you mean faces around shoulder to head high at most considering the board shape and not double overhead.

As for specifics, who could say? Don't know where you surf, how long or how well you surf, how old, heavy or tall you are, your fitness and surfing frequency and what you want to get out of surfing. Apples to apples the boards look really similar and my guess is that they will surf pretty similar so if you like what you are on now and for whatever reason want to change to the mentioned model, unless you are really good anything in the ballpark should work fine though I'd probably go higher volume and keep the same length for surfing in smaller waves if pressed for a choice.

Forget about VOLUME, unless you're talking about the same model board. You can get 10 different shapers to make you a board with exactly 39L. and EACH board will ride very differently from one another. Even from the same maker, two models with exactly the same volume will ride totally different. You have the consider the board as a whole and include rocker, wide point front or back of center, rail design, tail design , bottom contours, etc. NOT ONLY VOLUME.

Why don't you go on the maker's site and see what their volume / board calculator says is recommended for you ?
