Hello, I am new to surfing and I am currently looking into buying a board that says the dimensions on it are ( 6'3 • 13 1/4 • 11• 13 1/4• 2 1/4) I am 5'8 185lbs, 17 years old pretty athletic and fit. I have ridden long boards before and id like to move to a shorter board. Is a board this size good for me? I used to have a 6' foam board that I ended up snapping. Pls help,
Thanks!

Your overall width dimension is (almost certainly) wrong. Those dimensions mean that the board is 6'3 long, 13 1/4" wide a certain distance from the nose, 11" wide overall (far too narrow for a surfboard), 13 1/4" a certain distance from the tail, and 2 1/4" max thickness.
That's going to be a low volume shortboard, which from what you've said is not suitable for you. I would find a (much) larger board.

Yeah, that middle dimension is probably 21".
As a beginner that has progressed fairly quickly, I'd say you should look to step down to something more like 7'0" to 7'8" at best. My progression went from 9'0" epoxy Bic to an 8'0" foamie, to a 7'8" funboard, which is way less volume than the first two. The 9'0" and the foamie are similar in volume and float, and the drop to the 7'8" was all I could handle.
I'm 6'1", 190, 47 years old in above average shape, and this was hard for me. I recommend taking it step by step. Get out there as much as possible, that's the best way to improve!

Could you tell us Why and for What Reasons ? serious questions as it will aid in answering your question if the 6'3" is okay.

Most likely NO. Depends on the size and what you could do on your longboard. If you can't turn bottom turn and cutback backside, 6'3" will be too hard / too big a jump.

Sponges are overly thick and give a false sense that you can catch waves on a similar size hard board.
