Surfing Waves

I have been surfing for about 5 years and I mainly ride shortboards. However, I would like to add a longboard to the quiver and have been browsing Craigslist and found some boards being sold near me. As this is my first longboard I would like some advice on what to look for and what to avoid.
I am thinking of a board around 9'6 and and looking to get a board that is Versatile and one that can is capable of noseriding.

I am curious what you find attractive about longboarding? Most posters want to ride a shortboard for some reason but you are a shortboarder who wants to ride a longboard, that's different from our usual first post members
