I'm looking to buy my first long board and have my eye on an august girls board.
Does anyone know if robert august boards are any good? Its between that an a harbour board. Any thoughts?

Ya, robert augusts are very good boards. I learned on a 9ft robert august.

I would say brands and well known shapers matter less than a board that is in good shape.

I'm not saying don't go for a certain shaper - they get their reputations from being good!, but I would rather have a well shaped board by a completely unknown shaper than a beat up 2nd hand board by the best shaper in the world.

Form follows Function - ie. Make sure it works properly first, then worry what it looks like!!

Make sure you check the board over thoroughly to make sure it's clean - you should get a feel for whether it's good or not.
