Hey all,

hoping someone can help me. So I decided to take up surfing this summer.. finally after wanting to do this for YEARS. I did 3 sessions on a foamie and was obviously standing up and loving life.
I then decided I wanted to buy a board.. so I brought a 7Ft6 Torq board.. and since I got it I haven't stood up properly once. I keep falling off the side and admittedly struggle with paddling I all of a sudden cant get my balance.. is my board wrong :(

thanks

N x

Do you Wax :bigoops: your board? Positioning on board is probably wrong, different from floaty foam barge designed to make catching a white water wave as easy as possible.
Question, how tall and how much do you weigh?

Most foamies are typically wider, longer, have thicker rails and much more volume than your 7.6 Torq. That has 52l, while i.e. a Softech 8.0 has 83l. I find it strange that Torq recommends the 7.6 for beginners up to 100kg.

" I keep falling off to the side " could mean a lot of different things.
1) Are your hand(s) grabbing the wave or is your head hitting first ?
2) Are you looping out to the back or catching an edge and getting pitched off the side ?
3) Are you falling off on the drop or wobbling off in the flats ?
4) Are you a Snowboarder and trying to edge the forward rail ?
5) Are you getting up on one knee ( or worse, both knees ) ?
