What volume should I surf?, Also board suggestions

Hey guys
I'm and intermediate surfer weigh 56kgs but am quite tall for my weight 5,10 and am looking for a new board but am overwhelmed with options. My current board is a JS Blak Box 2 5,10, 19 3/4 28.7 litres. I am looking at either staying in the 28 litre range or going down to around 26ish litres. However I don't know how much this will affect paddle power and wave catching ability. I would like to find a marginally thinner board also, as i find it hard to dig rails in with my current board. This wasn't a problem before but is now that I'm starting to do proper turns and cutbacks. I have been considering boards like the zeus by CIS, the DX1 by DHD or the Monsta Box by JS. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated on what I should do.
Thanks
Jasper :)

Best would be to try before u buy, like borrow from a friend or rent. Second best would be to try and find a cheap second hand board and re-sell if u don't like it, the best way to find out what u want without spending a lot of money. There's a member of this forum who did personally try each and every board sold 2nd hand in Bali :)

If u want to go new then the Monsta Box would be the obvious choice, then u know for sure it's a board like ur Blak Box, but more performance built in. But know in surfboards if u gain something u lose something..

Good luck!

Nothing like first hand experience! :) Things to consider though is that volume is not the beginning and the end.....the shape of the board, the rails, tail, where the foam is distributed, whether it was shaped for local conditions, what the wave is like that you plan to ride this board on/the conditions you want the board for all factor in. Could be you could get a board with the same volume that you are riding with thinner rails and your issue would be solved......maybe not.....

Better buy a couple to make sure. :)

Less volume almost always means more effort, 2l isn't much you'll adapt with a few sessions, try the board before you buy it though

I would look at changing your fins before you change boards. Another way is to go surf a 6'2" for a week straight, then after you being flinging around the 5'10" no problem. But if you're loaded with cash, please by a new board, the surf industry needs customers like you.
