Is this a good board?

I havent been able to surf a lot since school started but ive gone to the beach 2 times now and I can paddle fine, the only problem is catching waves though Ive caught a few ones 4:10 aprox. Im wondering if this is a good board to keep progressing since I didnt have the money to buy a longboard, then this one. Im willing to put the work. The board is 6'6 - 19 3/4 - 2 5/8 and its almost new, and epoxy. I bought it for $200. Anyways i have noticed when ive caught waves I dont stand up, its like im froze up and the second time i went to the beach it was a shore break and I would nose dive when I caught the wave. Any help or comment is apreciated. Sorry for my bad English...
