Surfing Waves

So after I experiemented with an epoxy board last weekend, i started to wonder..

Assuming two boards had identical outlines / designs and volumes and constructions, but one had more volume in thickness and one had more volume in width- Which one would float better, paddle better or go faster with the rider on it?

Is it better to have the volume dispersed on the board or compacted? Thinner and wider or thicker and narrower?
For an example, two boards are 27L in volume both have the same design / shape but one is 6'0 x 18 1/4 x 2 5/8 and the other is 6'0 x 19 1/2 x 2 1/8.

Maybe it's a bad exmaple, but what are your thoughts?

I may just be talking out of my rear but just guessing at it the narrower board will be easier/quicker to turn rail to rail the wider board will work better on smaller waves. If you add length into the issue the longer board will paddle faster.
