Beginner / BIC ...

I bought a 6'6" poly thruster, kind of wide (21.5) from craigslist last time i went to the shore. I underestimated the complexity of surfing having had only one or two outings on longer boards. I could barely manage to stand (I have skated, windsurfed, wakeboarded...). I recently picked up a BIC 7'9" ACS board (which I am fully aware is not a good board in the long run but was within my budget)... My question is, Is there any problem with this board from a beginners standpoint. I plan on using it for a while and switching back to the 6'6" once I've become a little less of a kook Just curious if anyone has experience with this board. I can see from the promotional videos from BIC, that they are not very responsive, but I'm just looking at it as a stepping stone. Anyones experience would be appreciated.

That is pretty much a realistic call and a good starting point. Welcome to the world of surfing, actually the good news is if you can get a good response out of the BIC ( as you progress you will) then moving onto another board will be easier. Catching waves and building skills is the first move. Newbies seem to think boards do,the action, they just allow the skills to be used! You are ahead of the game by realising that!
