Hi guys

Quite a nice 6'10 'B Hansel' surf board has come up near where I live for sale. It's a fun board shape with a pointed nose, 6'10 x 21 3/8 x 3/4.
Are they any good?

I am also going over to Bali later in the year for a holiday (booked before I even started surfing) so I guess I could always get one over there as a custom.

Cheers

Got no idea of the shaper or the quality, they are selling 6'10" Hansel boards in Bali for $350 US so figure if it is worth it to you.
You are jumping around on so many ideas about what a board should do, chopping and changing before you actually get skilled can mean you don't get to know aboard really well an have to keep restarting the learning curve again.
The good thing is it shows you are excited, keep the stoke!

I have lived in Bali for 3 years and I own a Hansel shortboard 6'10","22, 2 5/8 swallow tail thruster, and a Hansel minimal squash tail thruster, 7'2", 2 5/8, 21 1/2.
Bruce Hansel is a well known shaper in Bali, his boards are popular. I have talked with him about shaping in email. He has a website where you can custom order boards, although it is certain to be way more expensive.
Anyway the surf shops around here (the locally owned ones especially, just go up and down both Poppies streets) are full of his boards.
I am actually trading my 6'10" Hansel off for a "Bluefin" surf shop epoxy board in a shorter length (another good shaper in Bali but the boards can only be found at "Blue Fin" surf shop just off Poppies 2).
The Hansel is great and I would keep it, but I never ride it anymore as I just find it too long. I have another Blue Fin modern fish in 6', 3", 21" epoxy that I ride all the time. :blah:
Anyway what I'm saying is the Hansel is a REALLY good choice, but think about going a bit shorter, unless you weigh 800 lbs or something...

I am Bruce Hansel. My Boards available in Kuta Shops here in Bali are pop outs from cheep materials for beginners and intermediates. The slightly more expensive boards on my website are custom from the highest quality imported materials with extra attention paid to all details....Glad you like my Boards however there is Huge difference between the two....Enjoy ! Kind Regards, Bruce
