Wanting a new board needing some help!

Postby domkenttt » Sun Nov 11, 2012 5:35 pm

Hi all, i've took up surfing for a good few months now and when i first got started stayed safe and got a good old 7'3" mini mal. Im starting to feel pretty confident with this and am wanting to go a bit shorter for a bit more movability. Now i dont claim to be a pro or anything so dont want to say im better than what i am, but im needing some help or ideas on what board to go for next im about 11 3/4 stone 6foot 1 and pretty athletic, but still want something not to hard to paddle ive looked at a 6'4" nsp fish but any other suggestions? I want to be in the 6'0" to 6'6" region and not splash to much cash? Cheers in advance!

Firewire Addvance 606 (but its also fairly expensive) - anyway, have a look at the shape and dimensions of that board and also those of the nsp and you will see that they have rounder noses (than a 'traditional' shortboard) and are wider 21inch+ and thicker (2.5inch).

Bascially for easy to paddle boards you need volume (longer/thicker/wider or a combination) and flatter rocker. These are often now termed funboards or mollusc or egg shape

So search for boards with those 'larger' dimensions.
