New Board?

Hey,
I’m looking for a bit advise on my first board, I’ve been riding a borrowed 8 foot for a year or and it’s time to get my own!
I’ve been looking at a Bic 7’9 Natural surf and an NSP 7’10 funboard.
They’re both pretty low end but the NSP is a good £100 more expensive. I’m obviously looking for something cheap but can folks can offer some advice on which of the boards would be better…(is the NSP worth the extra £100?) Also any advice on another entry level board that might be decent?
I’m looking for something around the 7’9-7’10 mark.
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Cheers,
Sandy

Sandy you are looking at 2 boards that will fill your needs for a couple of years as you progress, they come about equal IMO but for different reasons, The BIC is more durable but is a less progressive board but it will still suit your needs for a couple of years and be quite sound when you change over.
The NSP is a better all round shape for a lot of different surf conditions, it is probably not be as hardy as the BIC ( the skins are are different on the core).
Both have FCS fins so there is room to tweak fins on both as you progress.
So how do you choose? If you are hard on your board BIC if not, a better all round board the NSP.
Also your wallet on the day of purchase.
How to get a little more feel for your decision?
See if you can get a comparison ride on each and talk to anybody that has one.

Thanks Jaffa,
I think I'll go for the NSP tbh. I did want to go for a custom board and avoid getting a pop out but the problem for me is I really dont know what i'm looking for.
I also thought a custom might be more fragile and as a begginer I might wreck it faster.. not ideal as one would doubtless be more expensive.
Thanks for your advice man!

Hi!
When i started about 2 years ago i bought a "Surf Series" (basicly it's a NSP but all white and cheaper) and I must say i loved it. It was very easy and fun to surf with it (still is). I have never surfed with a bic but i can say that you will have fun and progress with a Surf Series (or a NSP). The Surf Series is about £100 cheaper than the NSP.

Hey nestrum,
Thanks for the heads up I've had a look at Surf Series boards too, definately a bit kinder on the wallet! What are your thoughts on them Jaffa?

I'd go the NSP funboard the surf series is being phased out and the fins are not FCS systems I'd put them in the same class as a BIC.
If you like a board often it's a sign of a good partnership's beginning>. Go look at them all in a store and see if you can!
