first board help please!!

hi all found a nice epoxy esp surfboard it is an oshea mini tanker should i be worried about it being Expanded Polystyrene and not lasting or are they a good board you might be able to tell i am new to this thanks tony

This is a mainstream standard construction technique, nothing to worry about.

ok so what sort of lifetime do these boards have compared to the extruded poly boards then but cant find any made of it thanks for the reply tony

The newer EPS foams do not absorb water like the older foams,epoxy is more impact resistant as a product generally, but if you brutalise any surfboard it will not last as well as one you care for.

any epoxy board will last years and years and years if cared for, and any cracks or chips repaired.

Just be aware that no matter what type of board you have, cracks in the glass let water in and kill boards. As soon as you see a crack/chip, give it a sand and fix it with the appropriate type of sun-cure repair resin. If you do this, it should be a long-term surfboard, unlike the polyester shortboards of today that last a few years before dings, cracks and compressions kill them.
