Surfing Waves

hi i am looking to step down to a shorter board from a 7"6 minimal im 5"6 and weigh 135 lbs and have been surfing 18 months 2 twice a month iwas thinking of a7s super fish or similar template either 6"3 or 6" 1 I surf north & south devon when i can any advice appriciated cheers mick

I know the original shaper Gary Loveridge in Australia, the 7S should be quite a good board as I was always very happy with them. Currently arranging a borrowing session to see how they go. IMO the 6'3" would be the go.
Have a really good look at the glass or epoxy job and the rail quality which is what I would advise on any board and Thai and Asian models particularly
Wow a little later the next step of a custom.

I am also looking at moving down to a shoter second board, i am 5"8 an weigh 149lbs. Any good advice on a second board? I have learned to stand an ride along the face of a wave and have good balance. Any help?

Lol, sorry, i am currently on a bic mini mal 7"6

The best bet is to try your friends boards/ hire some so you can make an informed decision.

Decide what it is you want: duck diving, quicker turns, easy paddling/ wave catching, glide? With those answers it is easier to make a decision.

Thanks thats great advice, i am going to hire a fish board as i have read that these are great in the mushy stuff, i mainly surf in cornwall, although i move to york in 2 weeks so will see what its like in scarborough and filey before i buy i think. Do fish boards have quicker turns? I know they have good floatation making it a good progressor board? I want a board that i can stick with for a while, funds are a little tight.
