HELP a FLORIDA SURFER CHOOSE a BOARD...

I'm still fairly new to surfing...pry surfed for 2 summers now in St. Augustine FL...I surf a NSP 7'2 funboard and pretty much have mastered it as far as the paddle out and catching waves...I want to get a new board...(a not so newb board like an NSP) and have narrowed it down to a PUG Performer by Kechele surfboards for my all purpose, staple board...my question...

What should I buy for a learner performance board??? (with the goal in mind to shred on a shortboard)

Obviously I am not used to the shortboard feel so I am open to suggestions on size, thickness of a board to learn on. I am 6'0 175 lb. Check out these boards and let me know which would be the best for the inconsistant florida conditions and my weight and height...
thanks...

This forums has died lately. Wow. But, i personally surf new symerna and i have a 7'9 bic and a 6'4 kechele UFO. The UFO is a great board, it cruises around nicely and is not difficult to catch waves on. Its a nice transition board, it can do anything. A little sketchy on the bigger days, for instance today it was a bit harry on the head high stuff in north carolina, but that also could be because im so used to the not as steep florida waves. Who knows, but its a really fun board, shreds around with out a lot of effort and gets a lot more performance than you might think. I like mine a lot, plus i bought it right from matt (the owner). Its sick.

Hey Van, Im in Palm Coast and work in St Aug. I currently just started surfing. I bought a 10' Blacktip Sofite from the SurfStation. I took it out on Sunday to Mantanzas. Caught one good one but was only able to get to my knees. Need lots more practice. Good luck in finding your board. I am about to start shaping boards.

Hey Guys I think the forum is doing well,
What is your beef? tell us and maybe we can set you right, there's space for feed back to the forum too.
Vanfossenator , you really have cranked up an oxymoron there, "A LEARNER PERFORMANCE BOARD" Sorry :blah:

In answer to your questions the Kechele boards look OK on their website have fun.
