ok so im living at the beach this summer and want to surf a lot. ive surfed a few times on long foamies and could pop up and ride no problem, i tried a shortboard once that was like 6'8" and only 18" wide and real thin and i struggled a little (i managed to get a wave or two but definitely not as many as the foamies). i just bought a board because it was in great shape and super cheap for this summer. its a 6' x 20" x 3" thick fish. im hoping that ill be able to improve and learn a lot on this board since its nice and wide and thick even though its real short. i skimboard so i have some wave riding experience and i also snowboard and skate a little. i plan on surfing every day this summer since i am within walking distance to a good break. im 5'9" and 140lbs, what do you guys think? will i struggle on this board or should i be ok since ill be surfing so often? thanks in advance!

whats the fin configuration twin/tri/quad? its nice and wide / thick so that is a benefit. It certainty will be a lot more of challenge than a longer board say 7'4 or something but its doable.

its a thruster. i was thinking that the extra width and thickness will help me out. i got it for $75 so i couldnt pass it up haha. plus i plan on surfing everyday all summer since ill be walking distance to the beach

I in the same situation. I can get a slightly used CI Pod for a good price from a friend. I have been surfing a handful of times with various boards (soft top, epoxy from 7 to 9ft) and have manage to get up most of time.
Now my friend has a CI Pod 6'2" , 20 3/4 , 2 5/8 and was wondering if I can progress further on this or just stick with larger boards until I get better. I'm 5'8" and 140lbs.
Thanks.

i say use a arger board until you work out your learning curve. I feel if you can catch and ride proficiently on a longer stick...then move down.
On the other hand if you don't mind being frustrated, when you get it you will have it
