board advice

hey guys, i plan to start surfing soon after a few brief tries out, so i want to get my own board.
i'm 6,1 and weight about 190 lbs, what board would suit me best?

If you are just starting and have hardly been out at all your probably going to want to start out on a longboard. If you do i would suggest buying a 9ft. board.
However you can start out on a short board. If you do it will be a bit harder, but you dont have to spend as much money if you plan on swirching to a shortboarder later on. If you do go short, i would suggest a 6'6 fish.... a fish has more volume then a regular board.
