Ok girl, so you gonna have to answer the hard question, how much do you weigh?
I'm not trying to be funny, but the size of board depends on ability, weight and (not always) height.
Off the bat a 5'6" is preety advanced for any begginer, but if you have been riding an 8ft foamie and can stand up it's time to get a new board for sure.

I weigh a little over 100 n I can stand, ride white water, catch a wave before it breaks, and I surf in the Outside.

My advice, try and catch the wave right next to where its breaking. You wouldnt have enough paddling strenght to get into the wave earlier like you used to. Also, your pop-up will be different when you start out. Your feet aint on the board anymore, so when you catch the wave, you might have to use the steepness of the wave and the board dropping down this steepness to get some leverage when popping up. Hope that make sense. Thats just for standing.

At 100lbs you should no problem with ANY board. However, a 5'6" board is very small, for your size you will surf it, depends if you are ready as far as ability. For sure it will seem weird at first, and you might not stand up. If you buy it and can't handle it don't get rid of it, buy a bigger one to transition and save it for when you get better, either way you will be surfing small boards at your size, so start experimenting. Have fun!!!

^ must agree. I have been riding a 5'11'' and last week i tried my friend's 5'8'' and that felt tiny. Cant imagine trying to move from an 8 footer to a 5'6''

OOOOHHHH you'll have a real hard time with that trade, I recomend going a bit bigger. Even though the board will handle you,, you'll have a real tough time on it.

On Saturday I was sponserd to go to this surf campout for being one of the best surfers in my school. During that campout the guys showed me how to ride a board that was slightly small than that and by the end of our session i was on the outside agian catching waves.

I also talked to this one kid, Ryder, on Wednesday and I believe I will be buying his 5' 11" board its like $500&up normally but his Uncle is best friends with the guy who owns it and he got it for $100 now hes selling it to me for $65. It's a sick board I call it a bannana board cuz its yellow

. Anyways its tri finned the fins are glassed in and it has a couple of pressure dings... All in all its in SUPER shape sooo yeah

Nice car lol....
Which reminds me...if I chuck roof racks on my missus Honda Civic hatchback you reckon there will be enough space between the racks to not put pressure on the board? Hmmmm
