Longboard for beginner

I'm 5'11'' 197 lbs, what kinda longboard should i get dimension wise.. i'm fit.. i guess that's a factor in choosin a board from what i read on this forum.

Well, im 6'2" and close to 230 and after talking to a expirienced shaper, im going with a 8'8" longboard, that is 3 1/4" thick and 23" wide. But I wanted it a tad shorter, hence the extra thickness/width. Standard longboard length is 9'0". I think anything in that size would work for you.

I know this famous surfer and he told if ure just starting get like a 1 70 m board or 1 80m

I am 195 female and new since April. I have a surf tec harbour that is 10 ft and shaped pointed instead of blunt on the end. I find it is easy to learn to paddle and sit up on a larger board especially if where you are has a lot of chop in the water. Wrightsville Beach, NC
