I'm new to the forum, and I'm looking to buy a new(or used...) board for this upcoming summer. I havn't surfed in two years for a couple different reasons, but I'm gonna get back into it this summer. I checked the size charts, and it states I need an 8'2"-8'8" board, but the weight category is vague being it only says 200+ lbs and doesn't specify height. My old board is a 7'2" Blue Surfboard, and I had trouble with it due to the contrasting sizes of the board and myself. So.... what I'm asking for is a board length and brand recommendation for a guy who is:
6'4"
230lbs
Has basics of surfing down, but hasn't surfed in ~1.5 years
Thank you!!

I think a good longboard is the way to go.

agree totally.... longer is better especially after a year or more out of the water and having trouble before on your old one. wouldn't go custom if budget is an issue as you'll prob want to change when you get a bit better.

So going with an 8ft+ longboard is a pretty safe bet? I guess I'll check out the local surf shops when I get out of school for summer, wooo.

Dan , go 9ft+
Chunky 9'2" or 9'6" - keep it to an easy nothing special design (i.e. nothing extreem, rocker, rails etc).
