which shortboard?

Postby Fochin » Thu Dec 06, 2007 5:51 pm

i have been surfing for three months (and by that, i mean i surfed pretty much every single day) so i am pretty decent at my longboard.

i recently bought a really beaten up 6' + 2 1/4" board to try and teach myself shortboard. the first time i took it out, i popped a hole in it. i can never seem to pop up in time once i am on the wave and it seems like i am sliding, rather than riding.

i don't want to blame the board, but i somehow feel i am learning on something that is not suited for me.

i am 6'1" + 195 lbs. Should I get a longer/thicker board?

Get a 6'6" or 6'8"...
Your board is too short for you!

I don't think that board is going to float you. Definitely need something thicker and possibly longer.
