Surfing Waves

Anybody tried one or heard of this make? Someone i know is selling a 7'2 Sunride mini mal and i'm looking for my first board.

The board is in my limited price range but i've never heard of Sunride and can't find out any info about them.I've only seen a couple of shops selling them and there's not much info on their websites about them.

Are these better/worse or much the same as the NSP/Bics the local shops are recommending i buy as a first board.I know everybody on here hates pop outs but every one of the local shops have said to buy NSP/Bic and learn on it for a bit rather than buying a custom and wrecking it.

Totally confused what to go for please help!

Everyone on here hates riding pop-outs, but most will agree that they're the best for learners.
If you're a total beginner, then a pop-out mini-mal is probably the best choice.

As for Sunride boards - never heard of them, but a quick google search suggests they're going to be very similar to an NSP/BIC.

Cheers for the reply! I guess if i'm going to end up with a pop out for now i'd be better to go for the better known ones so it will be easier to sell when i finally get a custom.

still pop outs but much lighter than bic/nsp boards. ridden a couple when i used to have to hire boards a lot and theyre not bad. good learner boards.

I'm no expert - but if I bought a custom board to learn on - be it secondhand or new - I'd look after it and make sure I damn well didn't trash it!!!

The point I was trying to make was that surely you can learn on on custom board and not wreck it? Common sense non?

Yup. I haven't managed to wreck mine yet and it's not a pop-out

Hi. We just went through the same confusion process. Two years sponging, then progressed to mini mals. Everyone has different advice.

Heres what we did. Get a decent lesson, that will give you an idea of what size board you need. In my case it was 8'. Then what make?? Go hire a Bic and see what you think. I tried this and found them easy but cumbersome. From what I am told NSP are way better boards and extremely tough. Then someone suggested epoxy boards which are a step up and start around £300 in the shops.

Anyway the reason for all this is that I found some brand new Sunrides (Pinao, same thing, epoxy) on ebay and basically bought two for £150 each!! I can forward details if you want. I have heard that some have been faulty in the past, but I am really really pleased with the boards. They're good for beginners and you can progress well on them. They hold turns and are light. I would recommend Sunride/Pinao as long as you dont pay too much for it. Over £200 would be too much.

I bought a Sunride 9'2" Board from Ebay. The board was great and it really helped although have since sold that and bought a 10' Bic Nose Rider as it is bigger and more stabel again. I did notice that the Sunride seemed to ding easier than i though it would though....
