ive looked about and found a whole variaty of boards ive got a shaper who will make me a mal 7'11" or shorter is this a good size? i want to be able to progress on it as well as let it help me carve into the waves ect..

im new to surfing but a fast learner been surfing for a week and abit none stop and found it very hard to get better. turning into the wave and having a better ride with a bit of stearing as u know how busy teh beeches get. thanx alot for the advice..

Re-sell your board

The mal sounds like an excellent choice and should see you progress nicely, they also have great re-sell value if you look after it so you will be able to get good money for it if you trade down to a shortboard.
Sounds like you are progressing well - keep it up.
Bet it's cold out at the moment :D
