Clean adhesive off board.

Postby Tystick66 » Tue Jul 06, 2021 5:17 pm

I have a board that was used at trade shows as a coffee counter. There are two pieces of plywood that are glued to the bottom. We would normally use lacquer thinner to melt the glue and remove the wood. Would lacquer thinner be ok to use on a polyurethane board? I tried denatured alcohol to little effect. Thanks!

I would try water first. Soak the wood with water till it falls apart then remove the wood and try to get the glue after that unless they did the smart thing and used a water based glue in which case it will all come off. Disclaimer is I have never done this but if I were going to that is what I would do.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

I've used Mineral Spirits to remove old Traction Pad glue and it worked awesome for me. I let it soak for like 10-15 min and the old glue just melted off. Didn't bother the fiberglass on mine. I think there were some demos on youtube
