Hey guys,

so i have been surfing now for almost two years and need some advice on a shortboard. Do they ding fast when you take them with you on a trip? and what boardbags would you recomend for a Hayden shapes Hypto Krypto 5'11? im going to travel true the coast of portugal so i need one that is light but wont bake my surfboard.

shortboards tend to be glassed lighter so that they are lighter in weight, hence they can be damaged easier. But they dont have to be light glassing and you can get epoxy shortboards that are pretty tough. I think the HK has an epoxy version

as to a board bag - get one with at least 10mm padding. They are a bit heavier but the extra protection can be worth it. Alternatively, a standard 5 mm padding and throw some clothes and towels into the bag and use it as a suitcase as well. Make sure the bag has a shoulder strap, hauling it around without one is terrible.

The HK is wider than many shortboards, so make sure the board bag is wide enough (if in doubt get a bag for a fish).
