I've had an opportunity to surf while on spring break in california! took a 2 hr lesson and rented a foamie for the remainder of the trip....fell in love. Rode some waves and had such a good time, I want to continue learning on the east coast. I live on LI, and the waves are different...the surf beach near me tends to have 1-2 feet waves. See lots of long boarders.
Since I'm still learning, I figured a epoxy mini mal would be best suited. From what I understand, it'll catch small 1-2 feet waves easier and is more forgiving then a shortboard for waves. Rode my friend's 7.5 shortboard and struggled catching waves the other day....Epoxy is also more durable then fiber glass too, which is a plus (though heavier). Eventually I would be interested in riding a short board but perhaps in time I will get there when I possess the skills.
I was thinking of getting of either a BIC or Torq? Bunger, the closet custom surfboard shop is a little steep when it comes to custom fiber mini mals or longboards so I'd rather save the money for when i wanna invest in a quality shortboard.
I found these two BICS on craigslist , $160USD and $175USD respectively but I imagine I could negotiate a cheaper price. How do they look?

Or should I look for something else? If they're in good quality and I could get them for a little cheaper it would be a great buy and I'd probably be able to sell it when I'm done learning.
EDIT: If important, I am 5'10 and weight ~162 pounds.
Thanks for reading and any advice!
