I had a question if some more experienced surfers could help me out with. So im looking to get a new board as winters coming but i find it harder and harder to go on days with big sets being im still in high school so i end up usually only getting to surf Friday after noons weekend and mornings of late start days. I have a 5'8 firewire board I ride when its 7ft plus but my old fish has broken. So im looking for a new kind of groveler board. But since its winter i would like to be able to ride it in up to about 5ft sets as well as 2-3 for the small days. I was thinking about getting the channel islands high five. I am 5'8 120 pounds male so most would say i should get it in like a 5'4 but i was thinking of getting it in a 5'6 to maybe be able to catch bigger sets up to 5 or 6 ft like i said. Is this a good decision or should i look at other options or will a 5'4 suit me in those conditions anyways. I surf mainly Ventura and Malibu. Any help would be appreciated!
