HELP which board to get

Postby fishyyy » Mon Oct 19, 2015 6:34 pm

Hi Im 5'0, 115 pounds. I ride off and on for a few years, but recently am getting alot more into. I been renting an NSP 7'2. Looking to buy a board but dont know which one to get. I looked up reviews on NSP boards and Torq boards.. Im looking for a funboard. I live in florida and then conditions arent always the best. Whats the diff between NSP and TORQ and is there any other brands to suggest? Also theres a Ron John's here, are there boards good? Im completely lost as to which to get. Help me pleassseeee :)

Either NSP or Torq will be a good choice, probably stick with the 7'2 or longer. Just get whichever is the cheaper one. they are both epoxy boards and are good and tough, perfect for a beginner

Other fun boards of the same length and size will be fine as well. There are so many small local makers that suggesting particular brands or shapers is impossible. But look up the Torq dimensions (length, thickness and width) and aim to get something no smaller. Bigger is totally fine.

I bought my wife the 7'10" NSP funboard. But for you situation I would say the 7'4" NSP Fish would be good. It has more volume than the Funboard shape, but thinner in the rail but wider in the hips. That should help keep up the momentum in the soup. Can go for the 7'0" Fish, if you're already riding back side. I have been riding the 6'4" Fish for over 10 years, it's my go to board, when I can fit a longboard in my friends' car, but it's too small for you.

All the people that fit in this category of learners will be well served when someone comes up with the FUNFISH board! :D
