Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can help me out with making a decision on what board I should invest in.
Age:47 male (just got back into the water seriously after a decade of dabbling for 10 years)
Weight: 78 kg
Height: 6.1 feet
Ability: Intermediate/Advanced (Surfed internationally for 20 years - prior to the last 10 - New Zealand /Aus/Indo/Hawaii)
How I surf: Late take offs, fast down the line, big snaps, use of white water sections. Not much air (at this stage)
Historic board profile: Short board 6:4 - 7:2 (fatter for the mush/guns for the faster larger waves)
Wave profile: shoulder height to double over head/mush to clean fast steep faces
Fitness level: Generally fit for a 47 year old but I'm not 18 anymore.
How much surf am I getting: Living in Wellington New Zealand, many good breaks in range but mostly reliant on South swell so in winter twice a fortnight.
Please consider:
1. I now have less time in the water and am generally in crowded breaks
2. I want something that's perhaps got more volume especially under the chest to increase my paddling power but hopefully won't compromise the boards maneuverability (within reason!)
3. I'm not really up with new board materials i.e epoxy so if I can keep the boards volume down but gain the extra paddle power via this, I'm all ears..
At this stage I'm looking at a Haydenshapes Hypto Krypto? or 7S super fish but the later seems a bit bulky re : maneuverability?
Would greatly appreciate any feedback on this…
Regards
