Buying a second board- thanks!

Postby shiveringshaun » Sat Dec 27, 2014 12:22 pm

I am 17, male, 68kg (but will have grown by the summer so maybe go with 75kg), 6'2". Over the last 4 years I've had about 6 weeks of surfing experience with summer holidays etc. I surf in North Cornwall, England (this year in Crantock). My dad bought me a foam board just to learn the basics on, which I have now got: catching a wave, popup, some little bits of turning on unbroken waves but not much. Basically this year I'm heading down for a couple of weeks with a friend. We'll have a 1 on 1 lesson after a day of warmup and want to make as much progress as we can in the 2 weeks available. For a 2nd board, a minimal or funboard look like the standards. Which would you recommend, sizing, advice for making progress etc. THANK-YOU VERY MUCH! :)

Shaun , have a really good read of this section there is lots of advice, about volume. Length etc.
It all boils down to getting a board which you can paddle onto wave easily.
My advice, look around go have the one on one lesson and have the teacher ( who I. Hope will be a good one ) give a final thought based on how you are really progressing.
Don't be talked into either a purely short board program or be put off a bigger board .
But I'm sure more advice will be offered. See what you think :D
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷
