Fish or Classic Longboard

Postby hbmagicman » Mon Feb 13, 2012 4:01 am

Hey everyone. I have the option to get a sweet retro twin keel fish or a retro single fin nose rider longboard. I would get to help shape it because i know the shaper really well (and a good price too). I just have to decide between which. I already have a longboard and a short board, but my longboard is kind of a crappy nose rider and my short board doesn't hold well in overhead surf. Which one do you think i should get? By the way I'm 16 and on my high school surf team and i am very experienced, so this is no matter of learning, just stoke!

So what is it you want to do in your surf, rip tear and lacerate or cruise and smooze your way down a wave?
What sort of surfing does your local break accommodate?
Answer that and you will know which board to buy, ask the shaper which way he thinks you should go, if he has seen you surf he will know better than any of us on the forum. Then the shaping of your own board CLASSIC.
Let us know with a show and tell Post a picture or two of your choice

Sorry bout the lack of info. I love the flow and style of fish surfboards, but also love the flow and style of long boarding. I live in Huntington Beach, so mostly mush, but it can get good at times.

at 1:20 to 1:46 is how id surf the fish.

is how i'd surf my longboard, the whole video.

I will probably end up getting both, but just for now because i don't have too much money.

Can't tell you how much I enjoyed the long board video. nathan makes it all look easy, demonstrates you don't need big waves, and embodies Miki "the Cat" Dora. My wife says she really liked the music.

Based on the videos, ( I know they're not you) get the longboard first get your style up and clean and then when you have saved up the next wad of money your fish will be magic as will your style.
+ You can go larger waves on a longboard too!
If that level is what you are aspiring to, go for it
