Surfboard Question?

Hi i just started surfing and i don't know how to choose a board..looking for some opinions from yall
I'm 5'8" 145Lb, someone on criagslist post this 6'2" Channel Islands Pod it's a very good condition just wonder if it fit me?

No. Way too small, way too high performance.
Search for similar topics on SurfingWaves, it's been written about thousands of times before, and the answer is always go big to start with.

Where ya from? What type of waves do you have on good days and usual days? Do ya have someone to mentor you (friend or instructor)? If you go too short and high performance, all you will do is get frustrated and pissed off ( Let alone feeling stupid in the line up)

Longer, thicker and wider then work yourself down.
