Kia ora from Aotearoa

Hi
Nice to be part of this on-line community.
I'm reasonably new to surfing - had a lesson in Raglan a few years ago and it didn't really grab me but then I hired a board on holiday to go out with my daughter and got the bug.
I'm 56, living in the Bay of Plenty NZ and ride an old school 9 foot something, flat as an ironing board, heavy as, single fin Quane log. It's a bit dinged up at the moment so I'm doing some repairs but I'm considering getting myself a Firewire Special T (in wood). I figure that a wee bit of nose rocker will make it easier to catch a bigger range of waves
I'm still basically a beginner but my ambition is to hang 10 toes off the front while riding a glassy smooth swell.
I've already learned quite a bit from lurking around the forum so thought I'd say hello.
