Hi

I've done this in the wrong order I posted a comment on the 'Later in life beginners' first!

I'm 61 and joining the forum to look for advice and encouragement to start surfing. I'm 5'10" / 178cm, 12st 3lb / 78Kg and reasonably fit. My goal is just to be able ride some waves and have fun... basic stuff.

I've moved to a place called Trearddur Bay on the Isle of Anglesey which is off the coast of Wales in the UK. Surfing is something I always fancied trying my hand at but as I live to far away from the coast at the time I never really gave it serious thought... no excuses now!

My next step is to book a few lessons at Rhosneigr, watch some videos and read some of the threads on here.

I just wish I was 50 years younger! It will be good to have stuff to encourage the grand kids too when they come out here :)

All the best

Simon

Hey Simon never too late to start, the process will take longer and you will have to gain a new set of muscular resources for paddling and a new awareness of your wavy surrounds, treat it like fun and have a longboard start, Enjoy the ride I’m 72. and been doing it since I was 8.
It will renew any jaded particle in your life you once had! Gopher it!

Doing it since you were 8! I bet you've got the hang OK! Thanks for the wise words and encouragement.
