Hello from Vancouver Island!

Hey everybody, I'm Chris! I live on beautiful Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. I am in my mid-20's, 180 lbs, regular-footed, and have been surfing seriously for about 20 months.

I'd call myself a beginner, and I'm definitely a member of the longboarding tribe. I started on a 7-footer, but scored a pickle-green 9'6" Bing Elevator after a couple months and haven't looked back to the shortboard way of life since! I mostly surf beach and reef break, with the occasional point break once in a blue moon when it's working.

Technique-wise I have a reasonably solid front-and-backside bottom turn, quick popup, and decent paddle technique. Some areas where I need to improve are consistently stylish cross-step technique, choosing the right wave, and lowering my stance when the situation calls for it.

My main reasons for joining the forums are to share the stoke with other swell-lovers around the world, get some tips and tricks on how to improve, and to hopefully find some destinations to add to my list of surf-pilgrimage spots to visit one day! I look forward to getting to know you all :D
