Just joined!

Hey all!
My name is Tim, I’m 27, and live in the US on the east coast. I just went surfing for the very first time this past Monday! I am so hooked. I had been following WSL and a few other Instagram accounts and being fascinated by their posts etc and leading up to my first surf sesh 3 days ago, I did a lot of research into boards, terminology, how to read the slope, break, current, time the waves, questions to ask, things to know, etc.
I like to be super prepared as best as possible. I watched a few pro surfers’ instructional videos and listened to interviews. I rented a 9 ft foam board with a buddy of mine and we surfed on some decent/sort of choppy waves. My wipe out to on board ratio was probably like 20:1 but I loved it. Even got a good last ride in with about 10-15 feet on board my first day.
Since then I just keep looking up videos, following more surfers, reading articles etc and that’s how I came across this site! I really want to have an outlet for talking about surfing and learning as much as I can. I don’t know anyone in my circles that surfs or know others passionate about surfing. But I ordered a rash guard and wetsuit pants and am really getting into it.
Happy to be here and really hope this can become an outlet to fuel my fire and talk to others who love waves and everything surfing entails.
One of the biggest things I want to learn is how to improve balance and strength to improve my surfing ability, like various exercises and activities to devote to.
Thanks all!
