Surfing Waves

Hey guys !!
I live in Melbourne since 2 years and because I don’t have a car and no surf friends I haven’t surfed since 2 years ...
i miss it so so bad
I learn to surf on the Gold Coast when I use to live there for 2 years, i surfed everyday and multiple times a day ! I loved it so so bad and because I was surfing so much I did progress pretty quick
I was mostly surfing longboard (10ft) but I also was surfing shortboard sometimes
Of course more confortable on my longboard
But I did have good session on shortboards too
Today after 2 years free from surf.. something is missing inside me and I do really feel empty and sad !! I grew up in the carribeans so I’m a water baby I miss the ocean .. my partner is not a big time surfer and plus he has a big back problem so he can’t surf or come with me ..
I have to admit I’m a bit scared of going bacl in the water. Scared of been ridiculous and forgot everything
But I need it more then anything !
M’y questions now is where is the best beaches around mornington to surf longboard ?
And can I rent boards on the spot ?
I only have my shortboards left !

Port Leo, Anglesea and Shelleys (Phillip Island) probably best bet, although small summer days most of the peninsula is ok. However on bigger days it can be pretty hectic/dangerous so take care

Ocean Grove/13th beach/Torquay/Lorne to the west is a good choice as well. Probably better than the peninsula starting out

There are plenty of places that will hire softboards (probably ok for the first few times) and a few that hire hardboard - just google up where you are going and should find something

You will need a good wetsuit as well (4/3 for most of the year)
