Newbie from NYC!

Hi all! I'm a newbie, almost forty and just starting to learn how to surf. Took one lesson in Dominical in CR in June and now taking a few lessons in Rockaway in NY. Have always wanted to learn but never had the nerve to really go for it. Hoping to pick up some good tips here and just relate to others who are learning or those who just have a lifelong passion for the water and waves.

Hey, I surf at Rockaway too :) Which break do you go to? I'm at 67th as its the fastest, easiest and least crowded to go to.
I started surfing at around 32 and I definitely wasn't in the best shape at the time.

I've been taking a couple lessons at 69th. Haven't gotten to the point where I rent a board and go out by myself yet. Baby steps!

Welcome, Jess!

Sounds like it's time to get yourself your first board! Talk to whomever's been helping you at Rockaway about what might be the best one to start on.
