G'day i don't surf, but my American friend does and he is here in Australia over his Birthday and i wanted to get him a unique gift. I was thinking of getting him a silver proof coin commemorating surfing here in Oz but i'm not sure if that's a horrible idea. I was wondering if any of you would mind giving me ideas on what you think would be a cool gift idea that is also inexpensive to take back to America.

Many thanks in advance

Bex :D

Oh and if it helps my friend is turning 20

There is a lot of surfing memorabilia around, although if your friend is 20 some of it might just be 'history' . There are some really interesting films/documentaries from the 1960s and early 1970s, or about the history of surfing in Australia (eg one called 'Bombora'). Signed posters But, like I said, those could be too historical.

Cant say I've heard of a coin but it could be good.

You could always shout him a surfing session in Australia, or if he is surfing already maybe get someone to take photos or a video of him surfing.
