Hi all

My name is John, better known as Jono, better known still as Fricky. Any of the listed will do!

I'm 23 and have been surfing on and off for 3 years now. I live in Glastonbury is Somerset in the UK, so it takes me a good couple of hours to get to anywhere decent to surf. I normally target north Devon where there is Croyde Bay. I consider Croyde my second home and try to get down there as much as possible. Due to working two jobs and still training in swimming, trips to the coast aren't as frequent as I'd like, but surfing is an amazing escape for me. Pretty cliche but very true. Joined up to this forum so I can learn a bit more. Only thing I'm sturggling with now is turning but practise makes perfect!

I have two boards at the moment, I have a genuine Chilli fish shape, 6"2, made in Indonesia which I bought off someone locally. Fantastic board which seems to work in every condition and its so easy to ride; but sadly made the mistake in lending it to a friend and now its damaged, so looking to hopefully get a quote to get it fixed up. Just purchased a 6"1 shortboard as a travel board and replacement for the chilli, unsure on what brand it is but the board itself is late 90s and the maker even attempted contours underneath the board to dictate how the water travels to the fins (can't say I've noticed any difference to shortboards I've used before!) nice touch none the less.

Looking to just get involved and chat and share my experiences out in the water. Sadly I don't have any pictures to share with you because more often then not I go out on my own so noone there to catch anything when it all goes really well. Anyone else on here from the UK/south Wales/South West? Long shot but you never know!

Peace out!

Welcome Fricky, why not post pictures of the bottom of your board we can help tell you what is going on there.
There are guys and girls from all over so you may get lucky

Most boards have bottom contours, some are very subtle but you can spot them by dragging a straight edge down the board. Some have 'magic contours' that are noticeable at 90deg but if you turn your straight edge to be 45deg to the rails, they disappear...

As Jaffa said there are some hardy Englishmen around.
