Hi all!

First of, i been lurking for a while picking up tips from previous posts and just skimming through content on site.. thanks!

I was born on the east of england, pretty much sheltered from any type of wave i never had the chance until recently when i moved to hong kong with my fiancee.

Although mainly beach breaks and flat throughout summer, its been ok for me to get a grip on surfing and get up and grab some waves. Although ive only had two sessions (3 hours a time) ive managed to get up and grab waves both times, You all most prob hear this alot, but im a really really quick learner both physically and mentally with everything i do! Ive had no lessons and feel pretty proud to not of only caught waves on my own with no lessons, but to of gone down to a pretty short board on my second session!

will be seeing you guys around alot! you can find me on facebook @ https://www.facebook.com/andy.cresswell.921

Hi Andy, welcome to Surfing Waves!

Lessons are a good way to start, but they are not for everyone (I never had any). What are the waves like in Hong Kong?

Hey Patrol,

Thanks :D. The waves in hong kong are inconsistent, if theres no typhoon then they are 1 - 3ft mush, but as i realised yesterday, if there is a typhoon thats near or just passed, they are huge sucky hollow waves ( not savvy on height, but standing on the board at the bottom they were easily head high ). Felt atleast 6 - 8 ft on the face but im a newbie so it may of been smaller :)
