Picking up a Gotcha surf board this weekend. It's 7'4" 3 fin. I know nothing about anything so I'm buying it as long as it seems decent. I'm currently deciding what kind of wetstuit I need. Leaning towards a 4/3 long sleeve suit.

I'm sure that a local surf shop can advise you on the thickness of wetsuit you'll need in your local waters. Make sure it fits really snugly.

I've got a 4/3m suit. Should work fine for SoCal waves.
I know I should start on a longer board but I'm pretty optimistic about my skills. We'll see this weekend. I'm paddling out Sunday. Yea!!!! Pumped!!!

Famous last words? Or the start of a brilliant career!
Actually, while 7ft4 is not the 'best' choice, its not totally unreasonable. Good luck

Wow! Surfing requires a whole........ lot of physical strength/conditioning.
I was able to stand on my board a few times which was amazing. I definitely need lots and lots of practice. But, I'm hooked.

Woo-hoo!!! 2nd time out and seeing improvements. Stood on my board for 3-4 seconds this time.
I need to hit the gym and do more cardio. I'm beat after a 1-2 hr session.

Welcome again Riddick you can come and play on the rest of the forum now, post your adventures in the learners section and help out others who are in/on the same boat( board) as you.
*More surfing is the recommended process truly ,the coordination of surfing is the needed skill, gym and cardio will only be an add on. BTW there is a very good set of training skills and exercise posted right here on this very site
