Hello everyone reading this , My name is Richard but my friends call me Rikk, Im 22 and I am from the East Midlands (Northamptonshire), I am new to surfing despite dabbling with it on a body board when I was younger. :)

I am looking to take surfing up to a more serious level now and looking at buying my own kit to do it instead of renting. I've only just changed my car to an economical estate to get a board to fit and able to pay the mileage to get to the coast and back.

I look forward to meeting those who take part in meets and make some new friends along the way on this forum.

Hi Rikk, welcome to Surfing Waves!
Body boarding is a great base for surfing, and there's loads of info on surfing / equipment for beginners on this website. Where are you thinking heading to for your surfs?

Hey thanks for the welcome surf patrol dude :)

I have been reading some of the threads and found out some great information.

I am not too sure just yet bro , i suppose its really down to where would be good for a beginner , also for me it would be good to go places where people off this forum go so your not alone and can have a laugh with fellow surfers, sadly i dont have friends that surf.

In April i went to Woolacombe which was a great place but it is a long drive from where i am, kinda sucks the main surfing vibe is on the op side of the country (200+ miles drive).
